Because isn't that was God is really about??
Part of our training is a trip to Nicaragua to learn how to run a short term trip while a group is there from Victory. Due to budget constraints, it had been decided that Jacqueline, me and our 4 kids would stay behind in Mexico while everyone else went to Nicaragua.
Well, Jacqueline and her husband are going into the mission field in Thailand. A few months ago, they took an exploratory visit as a family to see where they were going to be living. She explained to me that the trip made the whole journey seem more accessible to her. That it opened her eyes to how she needs to prepare to live there. That it opened her heart to the people they will be ministering to.
The topic of visiting Nicaragua came up and I explained that I had not been, but we'd probably go down in the spring to check it out.
With obedience that I totally admire, she said she'd watch my kids so I could go. That would leave her with 4 kids, in Mexico, for 10 days. I thanked her and said that it was too much and a very generous offer, but I couldn't accept.
A few days went by, a few prayers were said and a way was made by God so that I could leave with the team for Nicaragua, but come back 5 days later. We've also found a woman who works at the base here to stay overnight and help out during the day when needed.
This is an amazing opportunity.
But it is a costly one. The added childcare was not in our budget that we raised before we came. The plane ticket was on sale, but also not budgeted.

What an adventure!
